The media is defending Don Lemon from FACE Act scrutiny by labeling him “the press.” But podcasting does not grant immunity to violate protected spaces or to interfere with others’ constitutional rights.Entering a church during worship, intimidating congregants, blocking freedom of movement, separating parents from children, and causing injury to loudly and agressively advance a political viewpoint that breaking certain laws is justified, is not journalism. It is participation. This double standard is impossible to ignore.Where is the media when grandmothers, clergy, and peaceful pro-life advocates have been imprisoned under the FACE Act for quietly praying outside abortion clinics, without shouting, without blocking entrances or exits, without preventing anyone from leaving? They prayed, offered help to women, and shared life-affirming alternatives. In some cases, children are alive today because of their peaceful witness.If silent prayer and compassionate outreach are treated as criminal, while loud, physical disruption inside a church is excused because the perpetrator is deemed “media,” then the issue is no longer enforcement of the law, it is selective enforcement based on ideology.
